The Day Of the Wolf

GAWD! I love this Truck Stop. One of only two in the County. Watch the men come and go and just sit back and breath it all in. THere man scent mixed wit Diesel. This Stop is better, has full restaurant, Showers, and a tv room. Better to linger and man watch for a while.
DAMN WHAT WAS THAT?! That White truck, my lord what was that. Figures I was looking the other way.
The men that come through, I am waiting for the ones that walk knowing who they are. That Hunter within. "Lord where did that truck go? "Thinking to myself. I wanted a better look,I saw a beard and I swear a Leather Shirt. My wanting I guess.
"Marcy, slip a refill of coffee this way would you?" When did a double take, of course swinging in the seat, to look myself.
In walked this trucker, THE GUY IN THE WHITE TRUCK! Walking as though he owned all he saw, Short hair, hard to see. He was wearing a Leather Western Hat. Thank God is was late October, he was obviously from the South, it was only 54 outside, however, he wore a Leather Duster, and looked cold.
Sitting at the "BAR" section of the restaurant. Food not liquor. Finding myself getting short of breath. He had a presence that screamed, Animal! DAMN he is going to sit right here. This is great. As the Duster was thrown clear, the sight was so different for here. This may be the Capitol of the state, however all it is is a Big Little Town. Wearing a leather short sleeve Shirt, lace side leather pants and harness boots. The beard was not one at all. I was a thick Mustache. Like the one the guy from the Village people wore. WOOF!!!
As this leather trucker sat down, it did not seem right to call him that. He was different, quite, lost in thought.
Funny to hear you own breathing. I wanted to say something, anything. Well before the control could be managed, a light "WOOF" came out. Gawd, hope he did not hear that? saying with some fear that it was aloud. Looking over i saw a small, very small smile emerge on his face. Seeing things, that's it I am seeing things.
He looked over and it was so hard to tell how old he was. Miles showed on his face, white hairs in the Mustache thing he had. Looking right at me, he just looked.
WOW, such a look. Felt as though I was being sized up as prey.
Then the smile came, one broken tooth, coffee stained smile.
"Been sometime since one of thse was thrown at this old hand" turning away and quieter, "thanks for making my day"

"hope that was not embarrassing Sir?" He looked again and said "Not at all boy, Have not been embarrassed of what I am in along time. Leaning back to his coffee, I asked him his Name. "WOLF" was the short reply. and for the record I am no Sir!
I drive alone and live my life alone, A one Wolf Pack. Although, should life through a collar my way, I would wear one again. Unlikely though. I swear his hard face changed to one of a wanting puppy. He looked over and with out eye contact, simply said, "no you do not want to be one of us"
Taking a back, I simply replied, "WHY?"
What followed I will never forget.
This life leads to a collar all it's own. A tight collar know as the road. You become a Prisoner of the Highway. he keeps you on a tight leash. So tight that when you go to whatever you call home, he calls you back, insistently calling you back to him. Days without a shower. Good Food and Bad. And most of all no home, just a house, no Human Master, just asphalt. Most of all pup, to people like us, it is even harder.
I asked, What do you mean?
Don't play dumb boy, your Gay and a Dog. HOW DI DI DID you know? You reek of the scent pup, I smelled you out as I walked in. A pup trying his hand a the hunt. Took all I could do not to laugh. Needless to say I was taking aback at this.
" Done this before, no newbie here" He laughed out loud and hard. Don't be ashamed pup, your young and learning, we all did it. Just be careful, straight truckers will beat the shit out of you, and even other Gay drivers will not know how to deal with you. Your Dog side will frighten them. One word though NEVER loose it. That side will make you stronger, and more adaptable to anything thrown on you. I let loose by going off the road to my 5th wheel Camper, home to me, getting in a leather one piece suit tight fitting, self paw my hands and run in the woods to satisfy my needs.
He so caught me of guard, so open about his dog inside him.
He continued, One thing will get to give this up, a collar, tight and a Master that lets me stay as a pup. Otherwise, this is my Master, the Road. We talked for another hour or so, then he said, " need a shower pup, and to get to the truck and get some Sleep." With that Wolf got up , fished a tip out of his Leather Pants, and walked off. Sitting there thinking of Wolf, this strange trucker, a Wolf in a humans world.
A tap on the shoulder, and just simply, "Here is my cell number. it is the only one. Feeling Brave, call me."
He was gone.
Weeks go by, Phone rings, HI Wraith.... NOpe I will not be home this weekend.....HE is real......Ok see you Monday
Door locked, gas off, Coffee Pot off, and me off
2 hours later, I stand before a 5th wheel and knock
This naked Wolf, no clothes but so much body hair, looks down and says simply, " you showed".
That was the first of many trips there. He softened. To me anyway. He helped me to grown into the Master he knew I was. So patient with me.
Today was a big day for this Wolf. To me as big as the Day I met him. Been almost a year since that first visit. over the months, he came off the road more to teach and guide this pup to a Master. This day I offered him a leather collar. With his name on it. Just for him. only his, for him to put on.
He was so happy, Never seen such joy in his face.
It was then I went all the way. "Can I put it on for you and lock it" He cried and knelt before me.

2 Years later we are very happy, I walk him in the woods on a leash. His hands are now locked in PAWS for good and he walks on all fours mostly. I have never been happier, HE sold his truck and left the road for good.
Amazing how the day I called "The day of the Wolf" would lead to this.
Well time to go to the creek and go swimming and play fetch with Wolf.
